Music Review: ABYSS

ABYSS by PASTEL GHOST

ABYSS is a lot like a cross between yeule's Serotonin II and 2814's 新しい日の誕生 . It evokes that pensive shade of sadness which sits well above what might be called 'despair', but nevertheless instills a sense of loneliness which, while casual enough for a rainy day or lonely Friday night, carries with it the residue of a cosmic sort of oneitis. Unlike much electronic music I find on bandcamp, the synths are silk-smooth and have a cutting edge—nothing too abrasive or disconnected. PASTEL GHOST's lyrics weave in and out of the electricity, enhancing the flow and connectedness rather than breaking it. All the album asks of you is that you're willing to let it crush your mood, and it does all the rest of the work for you.
